My Teaching Style
The teachers who I've always gravitated towards learning from are passionate, humorous and precise, so these are the qualities I look to emulate in my classes. I love alignment, clear language and intelligent sequencing - but I also believe in creating an atmosphere of lightness and joy to remind my students and myself not to get too bogged down in the technical elements of this practise.
I first discovered yoga while studying Political Science at the University of Melbourne. I found that it not only helped relieve aches and pains from hours spent in front of computers and hunched over books, but it also made me feel more alert and focused. After completing my Arts degree in 2007, I set off overseas on a "gap-year" (which lasted on and off for the following six years!!) and I found that my yoga practice was one constant in a life full of shifting and changing. In the years following my degree I lived in Maui, Vancouver, Toronto and then back in Melbourne. It was during my time in Toronto in 2013 that I embarked on my yoga teacher training and then upon returning to Melbourne, I completed my Yin level 1 & 2.
Sleep ins... or afternoon naps...
Anywhere I can unplug and be in nature, I have no preference!!
"Bloom" by The Paper Kites, I walked don't the aisle to that song, so it instantly takes me back to feelings of deep love and pure happiness.
