My Teaching Style
To me, yoga at its simplest means connection so regardless of what the practice looks like, my ever-present intent is to have you feeling more connected to the truest you by the time the class is finished.
Classes will often depend on the mood of the room and what style of class we are taking. Sometimes it will feel like learning a dance of strength and prowess, blended with time for sweet surrender and blossoming inner bliss. Other times, more philosophical contemplation and energetic clearing may come about with deeper, longer holds and time for introspection and cleansing with the breath.
I was introduced to yoga at 19 years old. I immediately connected with the form of movement as it brought bounce back to my stride, revitalised my body and lightened my spirit. This lead me to my 200YTT in Byron Bay in 2013 with Akhanda Yoga Australia. I am so grateful to have been one of just five in the course as it was their first ever teacher training. Our teachers covered well beyond the basic course requirements of a 200YTT across the month intensive which infused high quality to the training and I began teaching with that team at the conclusion of my training.
A year later, I decided to go to India and learn from the source of Akhanda at Anand Prakash Ashram, Rishikesh with a 300YTT. Since then I’ve spent time teaching in studio environments and with individuals in private classes, as well as very recently acquiring my Certificate IV in Massage Therapy which further assists my understanding of the human body and its requirements.
Chocolate. Dark, raw, milk, chilli, salted caramel. I can eat a whole block in a day if the chocolate goblin takes over.
Can Marroig on Formentera, where you can jump naked off rocks into the crystal blue Mediterranean and it bothers no one. In fact, they may even jump with you laughing with pure joy and freedom.
When I’m not teaching Yoga, you’ll find me……
Singing, dancing, massaging someone (I’m a massage therapist too), acting, sun baking, reading, learning. I love learning! Anything that involves learning and I’m as happy as Larry. Actually, who is Larry?
